The Presidents of Canadian Tourism College, Ms. Gwen Donaldson and Ms. Kim Russel recently came to Manila to grace the formal opening of their first international branch in the Philippines.
In her speech, Ms. Donaldson said, “we train for employment and we have a lot of contacts in the industry. We also want to introduce students to train here and also find employment when they come over to Vancouver or Surrey to study with us further, we have lots of opportunity there.”
Ms. Donaldson further added that, “the Filipino people are just so pleasant to deal with and so customer service oriented..they have a great personality, fun loving, full of laughter.” However, she expressed that there is really a need for certification and accreditation to professionalize their skills, making them more prepared for the global tourism and hospitality industry.
Ms. Kim Russel also expressed their commitment in making CTHI, a Filipino-Canadian partnership, work for the long term. She further added, “we want to really welcome the Filipino students if they want to come to Canada and further their studies, training and work experience.”
The event was also supported by the Canadian Embassy and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.
